Scripture:
Ephesians 6:19-20 Pray also for me, that whenever I open my mouth, words may be given me so that I will fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel, for which I am an ambassador in chains. Pray that I may declare it fearlessly, as I should.
Observation:
Paul did not ask for prayer of deliverance from prison, nor to be released from his chains - instead, he asked for words to "fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel." He refers to himself as "an ambassador in chains" not bemoaning his situation or wishing to be in a better situation. Paul has an obligation as a Christian - to speak fearlessly - "as he should."
Application:
In all situations - right here, right now - I have the opportunity to witness, to show the love of God, to speak fearlessly (in words as well as actions) --- TO BE AN AMBASSADOR! My words often fall short in expressing what I feel - may I remember to pray, asking for the words, asking for the Holy Spirit to guide me.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, I, who am weak and frail, ask for Your help, that words may be given me to speak what my heart knows. May I remember to take a breath, cast my thoughts heavenward, and speak Your words. Thank You, Father, for Your grace. Amen.
Sherrill, what awesome words! Conviction poured over me as I read your blog. I feel what you feel in this, and it's empowering as well as humbling.
