Scripture:

Hebrews 11:1 "Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen."

Observation:

I could not count how many times I have heard this scripture quoted. I think every message on faith ever preached has referenced it. However, I saw it in a new light today. My faith is evidence of the future promises from the Lord. Beyond this, my faith is evidence of Jesus. You cannot have promises without the One who gives them. No matter how many facts concerning bombardier beetles (check out wiki) I have to combat the theory of evolution, they can always be glanced over or flippantly refuted. My faith cannot.

Application:

By allowing God to work in my life and increase my faith, His glory is also increased. Faith makes me unnatural in a world full of cynics. It is only by the work of God's hand that I could have faith at all. People will look at my faith in God's promises and see His work there. How important it is for me to take hold of truth in my life and rest in it by faith.

Prayer:

Continue to increase my faith, Lord. I realize that by changing me, Your glory is made known. Make me unnatural for the sake of Your Kingdom. Amen.

  1. I'm going to look up that beetle reference, but I just had to go ahead and comment on such a great blog. You helped me see that verse in a different light, too, which is amazing! :) "Help me be unnatural." Awesome.
