Scripture:
Hosea 6:1 “Come and let us return to the Lord, for He has torn, but He will heal us; He has stricken, but He will bind us up.”
Observation:
When we turn away from the Lord, we face God’s judgment against our sin. But even in God’s judgment, He is extending His arm of compassion, calling us to return to Him. For God’s children, we no longer face condemnation (Rom. 8:1), but God’s judgment is turned into the perfect discipline of the perfect Father.
Application:
Sometimes I have to be broken down before I can be built up. I see this in the life of Moses, and I have experienced it in my own life. Though discipline is not pleasant, I can know the Father’s great love is being revealed to me in even the hardest of circumstances.
Prayer:
Lord, help me to receive Your discipline. Help me to see Your great love for me as a son of God, that You work all things together for good for those who love You. Open my eyes to Your handiwork in my life, and let it cause me always to run to You!
"...perfect discipline of the perfect Father." I don't know if I'll ever forget that phrase, Kevin. Thanks for a great blog!
