Scripture:
Micah 7:18-19 Who is a God like you, who pardons sin and forgives the transgression of the remnant of his inheritance? You do not stay angry forever but delight to show mercy. You will again have compassion on us; you will tread our sins underfoot and hurl all our iniquities into the depths of the sea.
Observation:
Micah is saying that God is compassionate and merciful; He knows that we will sin and sin again, yet he offers mercy to us, and forgiveness! God does not hold onto His anger or our trangressions against us. He "delights to show mercy" when we ask for forgiveness, and it is a true forgiveness where our sins are "trodden underfoot" and tossed "into the depths of the sea".
Application:
How great is God! His mercy and compassion are free to me; all I need do is come before Him and confess. I know that I will mess up again, and His only request is that I repent. His forgiveness is a true forgiveness - not something that is held over my head and brought up again.
Prayer:
Merciful and compassionate Father - thank You for Your gifts to me. May I ever be thankful that You do not stay angry with me, and may I be a delight to You as I strive to follow Your ways. Thank You, thank You!
What an uplifting blog, Sherrill! Loved it! Made me think of this morning's sermon (the 11th's) about how the Israelites complained and God simply provided for them--He loved them so much. He loves me that much, too, and man, what a concept! :)
