Scripture:

James 3:17-18 17: But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere. 18: Peacemakers who sow in peace raise a harvest of righteousness

Observation:

The previous verses talk of how destructive our tongue can be; then we are given one of the many promises of God…the wisdom from heaven and exactly how it will equip us to raise a harvest of righteousness.

Application:

Man, did I need this passage. Just last night I was faced with this situation. I was frustrated and angry with someone very close to me. My flesh wanted to reach out and touch someone with my tongue, if you know what I mean. But something deep inside told me to be silent. This time I listened. Mike was able to encourage me with mercy and sincerity. Time allowed me to read this passage, pray, and now address the situation in a way that I could not have done before. I know that righteousness will be the end result. What an awesome God we serve.

Prayer:

God, I need Your wisdom. My emotions would have led me down a path of destruction, but Your heavenly wisdom can help me heal a situation. Thank You for Your Word. Amen
