Scripture:

Ezekiel 5:6 Yet in her wickedness she has rebelled against my laws and decrees more than the nations and countries around her. She has rejected my laws and has not followed my decrees.
Ezekiel 5:8 "Therefore this is what the Sovereign Lord says: I myself am against you, Jerusalem, and I will inflict punishment on you in the sight of the nations.

Observation:

Jerusalem chose to rebel; because of their rebellion they chose to be against God. When they took this position against God, He had no choice but to bring judgement upon them.

Application:

We need to see sin as God sees it. We need to be reminded of our own accountability. We need to know that God is God--before we learn it the hard way, as Israel did, through judgement. What choices am I making today? Are they choices to follow God, to be united with Him or are my choices ones that set me against Him? It is totally my choice where I choose to stand--with the Lord or against Him.

Prayer:

Father, please forgive me for the many times I have chosen me over You. The times I have chosen to set myself against You. Help me to stand with You in this life--I have enough against me on this earth--I don't need to fight You, too. Break that stubborn self-will within me that wants it my way! Help me realize the price I am paying or will pay if I continue in my own way.

  1. Loved the honesty, Barb! I keep thinking about the phrase "I have enough against me on this earth--I don't need to fight You, too." :) Pretty sharp, girl. I love it.
