Scripture:
John 14:2-6 In my Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also. And you know the way to where I am going. Thomas said to him, “Lord, we do not know where you are going. How can we know the way?” Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”
Observation:
2 observations: first, Jesus is making the point very clearly that He is telling the truth, and although it makes no sense to them, His disciples can trust what He is doing. Second, by stating “I will come again and will take you to Myself,” Jesus is claiming His unwavering love for us as His bride--that He will absolutely take us unto Himself; there is no doubt!
Application:
I’m so taken away by the fact that Jesus will return to take me as His bride, and I can feel His passion toward me in this scripture! There are many who cannot wait for that day, mostly because they really just want to escape suffering and pain… I do not want that attitude in my heart, although I hate suffering and pain. Instead, I want Him to return because as His bride I’m so longing for that final uniting together in intimacy, love and worship, without anything in the way! And secondly, I do not want to be like Thomas and say, “Lord, I do not know where you are going?” I just want to trust Him firmly! I should know that I know His ways because I sup with Him, and that is enough.
Prayer:
Thank You, Father, for sending Jesus to me, because now I’m reconciled to You, and You're giving Him to me as a bridegroom! I want to firmly trust and live my life with passion toward You! In Jesus' Name!
I hear ya, Kim. Isn't God good to us? I love Him soooo much--can't wait to "sup" with Him face to face!
