Scripture:
1 John 2:9-11 Anyone who claims to be in the light but hates his brother is still in the darkness. Whoever loves his brother lives in the light, and there is nothing in him to make him stumble. But whoever hates his brother is in the darkness and walks around in the darkness; he does not where he is going, because the darkness has blinded him.
Observation:
Jesus is teaching that we must forgive each other for all offenses. He paid the ultimate price and forgave us our sins! How can we hold grudges against each other?
Application:
I recently learned a HUGE lesson on this very thing! A coworker I held a huge grudge against was holding me blind at work. A few months ago I took it to the Lord. He put me smack dab in the face of that grudge and had I not forgiven it, I would truly be still in agony over the situation. Now I know God has me there for a reason! She is an unbeliever, and I give my heart to the Holy Spirit to work in her. Thy will be done!
Prayer:
Lord, I can never repay the price You have paid for my sins. I thank You, Lord, for showing me my faults and giving me the courage to correct them. I want to live Your way, Christ-like! Give me strength, Lord, to go day by day and confront this person with Your love, Lord. In Jesus' name.
Man, Lisa, great blog! What you wrote about is such a "block" for sooo many Christians--if we could all just grab hold of the amazing idea that we don't have to (nor should we) hold grudges...not only would that allow God to work in the other person's life, but WE would be so much freer! That's our God--totally amazing!
