Scripture:

Ezekiel 18:9 He follows my decrees and faithfully keeps my laws. That man is righteous; he will surely live, declares the Sovereign LORD.

Observation:

It's pretty simple, the Lord says that the righteous man will live. Ezekiel sums up the previous several verses in this: "he follows my decrees and faithfully keeps my laws." He uses all these verses to describe a righteous man.

Application:

While I am living under the new covenant, I still need to follow the Lord's laws and decrees. Throughout the New Testament, Jesus, Paul, and others tell me how to live. While righteousness has as much to do with intangibles as it does tangibles, the evidence of the inner-work will show out in living according to God's Word.

Prayer:

Lord, thank You for the promise that the righteous man will live. Thank You for reminding me that if I follow You and remain in You I will live. I pray that You would show me the things that I need to change to more closely follow You, and help me to shed those things. Give me the eyes to see Your path, and the will to stay on it. Amen.
