Scripture:

Rev. 8:3-4 Then another angel, having a golden censor, came and stood at the altar. He was given much incense, that he should offer it with the prayers of all the saints upon the golden altar which was before the throne. And the smoke of the incense, with the prayers of the saints, ascended before God from the angel's hand.

Observation:

The prayers of the saints were offered on the golden altar. Under the law, offerings were sacrificial. They cost the offer-er something. The law also required the best: without spot or wrinkle.

Application:

Prayer does not seem like something that is sacrificial. Oftentimes I go before God with my needs. However, it is the sacrificial prayer that is offered with incense before the Lord. It is when I pray in accordance with the will of the Father, rather than my will, that the prayer is pleasing to my King. When I lay my will down, which cannot be taken from me, I give God the best of me.

Prayer:

"Our Father who art in heaven. Hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven." Amen.
