Scripture:
Revelation 11:7-12~ Now when they have finished their testimony, the beast that comes up from the Abyss will attack them, and overpower and kill them. Their bodies will lie in the street of the great city, which is figuratively called Sodom and Egypt, where also their Lord was crucified. For three and a half days men from every people, tribe, language and nation will gaze on their bodies and refuse them burial. The inhabitants of the earth will gloat over them and will celebrate by sending each other gifts, because these two prophets had tormented those who live on the earth. But after the three and a half days a breath of life from God entered them, and they stood on their feet, and terror struck those who saw them. Then they heard a loud voice from heaven saying to them, "Come up here." And they went up to heaven in a cloud, while their enemies looked on.
Observation:
The enemies of God attempt to thwart the plans of God by killing His prophets. They gloat and rejoice when the prophets are killed only to find out out 3 1/2 days later God would raise them from the dead, which strikes terror in their hearts.
Application:
Doing the will of God goes against the grain of the ways of this world. It is not uncommon to see people made fun of those on TV who make a stand for God and for righteousness. Little do the scoffers know, however, that God will vindicate His servants and His Word. It is important for me to remember what Psalm 56:3-4 says: "When I am afraid, I will trust in You. In God, whose word I praise, in God I trust; I will not be afraid. What can mortal man do to me?"
Prayer:
Lord, help me to be courageous enough to stand up for You even if I'm the only one! Amen.
Isn't that amazing stuff to read? Thanks for the blog, Just.
