Scripture:

Daniel 1:8 & 15 But Daniel made up his mind that he would not defile himself with the King's choice food or with the wine which he drank...15 At the end of ten days their appearance seemed better and they were fatter than all the youths who had been eating the King's choice food.

Observation:

God made a way for Daniel and his friends to keep the principles and convictions He had given them to follow. He gave them both favor and success. Daniel didn't waiver in his decision. Vs 8 says "he made up his mind" and God did the supernatural.

Application:

Many times in life I am challenged by circumstances to deviate from the convictions God has given me, whether it be to do something dishonest at the request of a friend or be ordered to follow a rule contrary to my beliefs by a governing authority. It is usually not a thing that is out of the ordinary, but something that all the rest of society is comfortable doing. It takes real grace and trust in a God who can supernaturally make the way to live by the principles and convictions He gives me.

Prayer:

Lord, if you called me to live by certain principles, You can adjust circumstances for me to live them out. Continue to bless me with a steadfast heart in what You have called me to, a sensitive ear to hear Your direction, and the grace to pull it all off for Your glory. Amen
