Scripture:
Psalm 145:21 "My mouth will speak in the praise of the Lord. Let every creature praise his holy name forever and ever."
Observation:
This Psalm speaks of the goodness of our God. It is simply praising God for what He has done. This reminds me of the verse that says (paraphrased) "the rocks will cry out in praise if we fail to." I find it interesting that this chapter has verses that speak about the importance of teaching our children why we praise God and how to praise Him (Ps. 145:4-5).
Application:
So many of my prayers can be a "What about me?" structure. Lately, I have found myself asking God "What about me?" "Why?" and "When?" Now I know that God does not turn his ear from me when I am voicing frustration and requests, but think of how glad He must be when I do nothing but thank Him for the blessings that I have and have yet to receive. It is hard during tough times to sit and count your blessings, but when I start, I find that I have so much to be thankful for; I come away feeling refreshed and with a new outlook. I need to find more time to pray prayers of thankfulness instead of need. I think I would be surprised to see what God does.
Prayer:
Father, Thank You for being a God who listens and understands. Thank You for the blessings that You have graced me with. I am truly blessed beyond belief. Thank You for Your grace and mercy. Bless Your children today, Father.
I needed that today, Mad-dog. :)
