Scripture:

Luke 9 : 62 Jesus replied: No one who puts his hand to the plow and looks back is fit for service in the kingdom of God.

Observation:

Jesus is talking about focus. We need to keep our eyes on God and what's ahead, and not be looking back. If you look back while plowing a field, your furrows will be crooked and not in line. When landing a plane, you focus on the end of the runway, not what's immediately in front of you. It's so easy to get caught up in the world and the busyness of life and focus on the here and now, and not what God has promised.

Application:

It's so easy for me to lose focus with all that's going on in the world today. I'm a fix-it guy and I have a very hard time waiting for someone else to fix things that are broken. The world is so messed up. Why can't God fix it now? Why do we have to wait? It scares me to see what the country and world is turning into, and the Bible says that it's going to get a lot worse. I need to keep focused on God's promises and not be so impatient, because the Bible also says after it gets worse, it's going to be better than we can ever imagine.

Prayer:

Dear God, I believe in Your promises and believe that heaven awaits us who believe. Help me to not be so impatient and continually looking back and around at what has happened and is happening. I want to trust and rely on You completely. Fill my heart with Your Spirit, fill my eyes with Your vision, fill my heart with Your love. AMEN
