Scripture:

Acts 5:29-32 - Peter and the other apostles replied: "We must obey God rather than men! The God of our father raised Jesus from the dead--whom you had killed by hanging Him on a tree. God exalted Him to his own right hand as Prince and Savior that He might give repentance and forgiveness of sins to Israel. We are witnesses of these things, and so is the Holy Spirit, whom God has given to those who obey Him."

Observation:

I see only two choices here: To either obey God and His calling or to obey men and their desires. These men saw only one choice!

Application:

It shouldn't even be a thought or consideration of who I am going to obey! I MUST obey God. When I do, the result will always be the same--I will be pleasing to the Lord! With man, the subject of pleasing is always so subjective. God's approval is easier to get than man's.

Prayer:

Father, may my heart be one that is open to hear Your voice and respond. May my desire be one of I MUST obey God. May Your approval be the only one I seek.

  1. Love it, Barb. I do think that we can obey man (like our government, those in authority over us, etc.) UNLESS it conflicts with God's commands for us. But it's true that if we please GOD, then we will already be submitting to authority, etc. :D
