Scripture:
Luke 16: 10,11 "Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much, and whoever is dishonest with very little will also be dishonest with much. So if you have not been trustworthy in handling worldly wealth, who will trust you with true riches?
Observation:
Jesus is referring to being responsible and being accountable for the things that we are given. If we are only given a few earthly possessions, then we need to be responsible with those and show God that we are able to be trusted with more. It's the same way with the Spirit. If God trusts us with something that WE see as small it may be a stepping stone to something larger. God is not going to see if we can handle an international ministry without first seeing if we can witness to our neighbor.
Application:
Be diligent and trustworthy right where I am at all the time. I may not feel like everything I am doing is what God has me doing for the rest of my life, but if I am not trustworthy in these things, then He will not be able to trust me with the bigger things that I feel He has called me to do.
Prayer:
Thank You, Jesus, for trusting me with anything. In myself I am worth nothing, but You place value on me, and You have put me in a place to be trusted. I pray that You would search me, and find me trustworthy in everything that You have set before me. Show me where I am falling short, and help me to work on those areas. Mostly, Lord, I pray that I will be able to be trusted to hear Your voice, and act on what You are telling me. Amen
