Scripture:

Acts 23:19 The commander took the young man by the hand, drew him aside and asked, "What is it you want to tell me?"

Observation:

There was a consipiracy formed and an oath made by the Jews to not eat or drink until they had killed Paul. Paul was going to be ambushed and killed while being transported to the chief priests and elders. But.....I love the next part where Paul's nephew became so brave and smart. He ran to Paul and revealed the plot that he had overheard. Paul had one of the centurions take the boy to the commander to let him know the boy had something to tell him, his response being the main verse I want to point out here. "What is it you want to tell me?"

Application:

I take this out of this portion of scripture and relate it to my Commander (my God) taking me by the hand and asking me, "My dear daughter, what is it you want to tell me?" He listens to me so patiently and gently. I'm able to be open with Him. It's sometimes hard to be open and vulnerable with a commander or mentor in your life out of fear you might get in trouble, hurt somebody else or you may think that they will think less of you afterwards. The way the commander presents an open table for this boy to reveal a "secret" to him is just beautiful to me. Because this commander was so open and available, Paul was secured in his travels and the plot was not successful.

Prayer:

God I am so thankful that I get to be so open with You. You know me inside and out, better than anybody. I can't be fake with You and get away with it. I can't lie to You...You know the truth. I can't hide stuff from You...You know me too well. I love that. It makes life easier for me. There is no pretending. There is no fear. You welcome me to the table, take me by the hand and invite me to tell You something I need to tell somebody. I love You, God. You take time out and speak directly to me. I pray that today is another day You welcome Your daughter to Your side and ask, "What is it you want to tell me?"...Amen.
