Scripture:

Job 1:21 (NLT) "He said, “I came naked from my mother’s womb, and I will be naked when I leave. The Lord gave me what I had, and the Lord has taken it away. Praise the name of the Lord!”

Observation:

Everything we have comes from God! Often times we have the wrong attitude concerning our stuff. We look at the things God has given us (jobs, money, homes, family, influence, time, etc,), and make it more important than the One who gave us all these things! We can keep a healthy attitude concerning our stuff by always keeping an attitude of praise and thanksgiving to God. If you live life long enough, you will experience loss, and those who have an attitude of praise and thanksgiving are the ones who can have perfect peace and joy, no matter what life throws their way!

Application:

I have experienced some recent losses in my life and there are some things that haven't developed quite like I wanted them to. It is vital that I don't lose sight of the goodness of God and the things that I do have. God has only the best things planned for my life, plans to prosper me and give me a future hope, and even though I don't have everything I think I should have, God is still GOOD and He is worthy of my praise!

Prayer:

Father, help me to keep a healthy attitude about my stuff! I praise You for the things that I have and for the plans You have for my life. Amen.

  1. Love this blog, Justin. Stuff is just stuff, although it's hard sometimes to let it go, isn't it? :D Seems like the Lord has to teach me that over and over and over...
