Scripture:
Luke 4:5-7 The devil lead him up to a high place and showed him in an instant all the kingdoms of the world. And he said to him, “I will give you all their authority and splendor, for it has been given to me, and I can give them to anyone I want to, so if you worship me, it will all be yours.
Observation:
The devil is trying to tempt Jesus and make him falter so that the devil would be worshipped and known as lord.
Application:
The arrogance that comes out of the statement sounds like "it’s mine and I will do what I want with it." We act this way from childhood on. It is not becoming of us. I hope that I succeed every time I speak in recognizing what and how I am saying comes across.
Prayer:
Lord, thank You for Your strength to show us these temptations so that we might be aware of our surroundings daily and not fall into these traps. Help us to stand strong in You, Lord, and know that we are forgiven when we falter. In Jesus' name, Amen
Lis, I honestly never thought of it that way before--great blog. How childish are our ways...Lord, help me to be mature!
ReplyDeleteAhhhh...the reminding! Childish, yes we are at times. How neat (in a heart wrenching way) to think of this scripture like this. Its hard to face these things but when we do we just get closer to God and more like Him. Thanks Lisa...Crystal
