Scripture:

Nehemiah 1: 6-7 (Nehemiah praying)…I confess the sins we Israelites, including myself and my father’s house, have committed against you. We have acted wickedly toward you. We have not obeyed the commands, decrees and the laws you gave your servant Moses.

Observation:

We should pray the same prayer today to God because we have sinned and continue to sin. We continue to break the commandments. The prayer is one of confession.

Application:

I most often pray for blessings. I need to confess to God more and ask for forgiveness -though He knows my sins. He awaits my confessions and, I think, He rejoices with fatherly pride when I confess. It is like the way we feel when our children have confessed to us and asked for forgiveness.

Prayer:

Father, I will confess my weaknesses and sins to You and ask for the forgiveness that Jesus so gallantly and lovingly died to insure. Guide me to Your eternal light. Amen

  1. You're so right, Ray, about praying for blessings, or even just thanking Him for blessings--we so OFTEN leave out the "repenting" part. I suppose that's because it's the ugly part of us we don't want to deal with! :)
