Scripture:

2 Corinthians 4:6-7 - For God, who said, "Let light shine out of darkness," made His light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ. But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us.

Observation:

As I live in a close relationship with the Lord, the Light of His Presence filters through me to bless others.

Application:

My weaknesses and wounded places--the cracks--are the openings through which the light of the knowledge of God's glory shines forth. His strength and power show themselves most effectively in my weakness. This, of course, depends on my willingness to allow God to work in my life. As I turn to the Lord to fill the empty places inside me, His light grows brighter. What I perceive as a negative in my life (weakness and places I've been hurt) are really the greatest source of blessing not only to myself, but can be for others.

Prayer:

Lord, help me to be real. Help me not to try to hide or cover up all the cracks in my jar. Help me not to see those cracks as flaws, but as places that allow Your love to flow through. Keep my focus on what You think of me and not worry about how I am perceived by those around me. As I take the focus off of me, it will allow others to see You. Lord, as I sit in Your presence may, You transform me--renew my mind and cleanse my heart. Allow me to be a vessel that Your love flows through.

  1. What a beautiful blog, Barb. Reading that verse again here made me REALLY see it for the first time! "treasure in jars of clay"--how unworthy I am!
