Scripture:

Galatians 3:16,29 The promises were spoken to Abraham and to his seed. Scripture does not say “and to seeds,” meaning many people, but “and to your seed,” meaning one person, who is Christ. If you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.

Observation:

God tells Abraham in Genesis 12:2-3 "I will make you into a great nation, and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you.”

To be Abraham or even positively associated with him meant FAVOR in your life! When God spoke this blessing to Abraham, He was also speaking favor into our destiny if we are in Christ. We are heirs! An heir is someone who benefits as a result of being a child of their parent. That's it! If we are in Jesus, we are the descendants of Abraham and beneficiaries of His blessing and favor. This blessing is not a result something we have earned, but a result of our trust in Jesus as our Lord and Savior!

Application:

I am blessed, not cursed! I am above, not beneath! I am the head, not the tail! Because I am in Christ, I have an inheritance, not only in this life but the next! I cannot earn God's favor. His favor in my life is a result of the blood of Jesus Christ shed for me. It is only His blood that makes me "belong."

Prayer:

Thank You, Jesus, for making me "belong" through Your blood! Help me not to try to earn Your favor, but receive Your daily blessings through Jesus Christ. Amen!
