Scripture:

Psalm 35:27 "May those who delight in my vindication shout for joy and gladness; may they always say, 'The Lord be exalted, who delights in the well-being of his servant.'"

Observation:

David is singing about how God will deliver him from his enemies and what will come of them if they continue on their path of hypocrisy and evil.

Application:

This chapter reminded me of what Pastor Randy spoke about last Sunday: being willing to help our brothers and sisters. It is human nature for people to gang up on those who are different; herd-mentality, if you will. Sadly, we as Christians are just as guilty of tearing down our neighbors as non-believers are. It is because we are Christians that we need to rise above what feels safe and uplift one another.
If I am the one being persecuted, then I need to seek God even more. Instinctively, I will want to lash out and defend myself. But where will that get me? A favorite word of wisdom of mine goes "Never argue with an idiot. They drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience." If my goal is to be more like Jesus, I better reflect His image. I can learn to reflect His image by spending more time with Him. God will take care of the rest. Who can be against me?

Prayer:

Father God, thank You for being my protector. I am so glad that I have a covering that allows me to let go of feelings of oppression and anger. Help me to be more like Your Son and to be selfless with my life and other gifts that You have blessed me with. I want to make You proud, Father God. Praise Your name.
