Scripture:
John 20:18 Mary Magdalene went to the disciples with the news: “I have seen the Lord!” And she told them that he had said these things to her.
Observation:
Jesus had instructed Mary to go and tell the disciples, and she immediately went, and the verse uses an exclamation point. She didn't just tell them, but she said it with a great deal of passion and fervor.
Application:
Well, what better story for Christmas Eve than that of the Resurrection? As I was looking through this section of verses I thought, "How often do I see Jesus or hear from Him, and do nothing about it?" Mary had seen a risen Jesus and immediately went to tell other people...and she exclaimed it. I need to be more like that. When I hear from Jesus, or He directs me to do something, I need to hurry to do it.
Prayer:
Thank You so much for sending Your Son and allowing Him to go through the things He went through for this moment in the Bible - the empty tomb. Thank You for the forgiveness and grace that come along with this act of love. I pray that You would give me a greater measure of boldness and obedience. When You speak to me, remind me of this verse to push me into acting quickly on Your behalf. Let me be an agent for Your Kingdom here on earth. Amen.
