Scripture:
1 John 3:6 No one who lives in him keeps on sinning. No one who continues to sin has either seen him or known him.
Observation:
This is not John asserting sinless perfection, but explaining that the believer's life is characterized not by sin, but by doing what is right.
Application:
I do know Him. I know Him deeper now than I ever have before. He is so pure, holy and righteous and I am continually wanting more of Him in my life. I am not satisfied, and I continue wanting a closer relationship with Him. I'm allowing Jesus in all areas of my life, even the ones I have continued to keep control of. After reading this scripture, I believe that I will never live a life of sin again. I will sin, that is human nature, but I believe that I will not live a life of sin....and only because I live in Him and He lives in me.
Prayer:
Jesus, Savior, King, Love, and Majesty....You are so lovely to me. You take care of my life, my heart, my all...and I give you my all. I pray that I continue to remember these words of this scripture and hold tight to the promise that is here..."No one who lives in him keeps on sinning." What an amazing word to hear. I am in You, Lord, and therefore sin will not over take me, my life. Overflow in my life, Jesus. There can never be too much of You. Swing open the flood gates and pour out. Let me pour that out onto others and watch as Your people praise You, Lord. Listen as we sing a joyful song to You for all You are and all You promise of a life of fullness and righteousness. Thank You, Lord -Amen.
A beautiful blog, Crystal. This is a difficult scripture for some people, and you put it in such simple, truthful terms. I loved it.
