Scripture:

Revelation 11:10 And those who dwell on the earth will rejoice over them and celebrate; and they will send gifts to one another, because these two prophets tormented those who dwell on the earth.

Observation:

The prophets had been such trouble that their death became a day of remembrance and celebration to the people of the earth. They actually gave gifts to one another. A holiday was enacted to rejoice at the death of these troublesome prophets. It is the way the true prophets have always been treated throughout the scriptures. Their removal from the earth is a breath of fresh air to the world around them.

Application:

Jesus said that if they hated Him they would hate us; and that the servant is not greater than the Master implying that we, the lesser ones, should not expect to escape the persecution that His lifestyle brought. It seems as though persecution is a measuring rod to some extent, showing us how much like our Master we are or are not. Am I presenting a truth to the world around me that is a conviction and a challenge like my Master and prophets before Him? Will there be a sigh of relief to the world around me when they don't have to be challenged by the Christlikeness of my life? Or am I just a nice Christian who wants to get along with everyone?

Prayer:

Father, teach me to be a God-pleaser like Christ and not a man-pleaser. Teach me to always do what the Father is doing, like Christ. Let me be a prophetic voice to the world around me. Amen.
