Scripture:

John 6:35 Then Jesus declared, "I am the bread of life. He who comes to me will never go hungry, and he who believes in me will never be thirsty."

Observation:

The crowd has just found Jesus again and He has kind of reprimanded them, saying that they were looking for Him because He had fed them so full. Then they ask Him what He's going to do to prove that He's the One God sent--they reiterate the story of manna being given to the wandering Israelites, so where's theirs?

Application:

Man, this seems so shallow to me. Trying not to be judgmental, I guess I can see that I sometimes worry only about my needs being met. I can't see not knowing who Jesus is, though, when He's already performed miracles right in front of my eyes. What I get out of this verse is the comfort that He is everything I need; I couldn't stand to live one second without Him. When I am "in Him," I never need ANYTHING--I'm not hungry nor thirsty, and I mean that figuratively. :)

Prayer:

Father, thank You for being my Substance. You truly are everything to me. I thank You for my family, for my church body, for all that You've given me, but You really are the most important One in my life. I lack nothing with You. Thank You so much for being so good to me. I love You. In Jesus' name, Amen.
