Scripture:
Romans 15:1-3 1. We who are strong ought to bear with the failings of the weak and not to please ourselves. 2. Each of us should please his neighbor for his good to build him up. 3 For even Christ did not please himself, but as it is written. “The insults of those who insult you have fallen on me."
Observation:
When I read this the first time, verses 1 and 2 had little meaning to me until I read it a couple of times. Then v3 pretty much clarified the context for me. Christ did not defend Himself against His accusers, because He is also God. God will deal with them. Period.
Application:
For me, this passage puts truth to the words “just let it go.” Because I am in Christ and He is in me, any and all concerns have fallen on Him. My job is to “bear the failings of the weak”… in other words, accept them, love them, pray for them…forgive them… ouch! Because it has already fallen on Him, He will handle it best if we “just let it go.” (to Him)
Prayer:
Lord, help me to remember Your truth and respond more like You, and to do it more quickly so that I can be at peace with You…Amen
