Scripture:

Genesis 50:19 But, Joseph said to them, "Don't be afraid. Am I in the place of God?"

Observation:

Joseph's father had just died and a sense of guilt had been placed on the brothers of Joseph, who had sold their brother Joseph earlier in his life (Gen 37:12-36). The brothers were afraid and sent a messenger asking for forgiveness. Joseph wept when he got the message. The above scripture is a great reminder that we are not to judge, that only God is the judge of sin.

Application:

So many times I go through life judging a certain situation or circumstance, or even worse yet, someone. This is a great reminder to me that even though Joseph had faced so much in his first 40 years of life, that he still loved as Jesus does and remembered that judging of sin is not our responsibility, but of God's.

Prayer:

Dear Father, thank You for this great reminder that You have laid upon me. As I make way in my travels and meet many acquaintances I pray that I do not judge, but rather love. Thank You for the continued blessings and Your love for me and my family. - Amen.

  1. What an incredible story--I get something new out of this EVERY single time I read it! Judging...even that is a new thought out of this story for me. Tx, Chris.
