Scripture:

Luke 24: 46, 47 He told them, “This is what is written: The Messiah will suffer and rise from the dead on the third day, and repentance for the forgiveness of sins will be preached in his name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem."

Observation:

Jesus has just recently risen from the dead after being crucified. This is just before His ascension back to Heaven. Jesus is showing His disciples how a prophecy was fulfilled in His death, burial, and resurrection, and how it will continue to be fulfilled as repentance is preached to all nations.

Application:

I am still living out this prophecy. Jesus did His part by dying a gruesome death on a cross and rising from the dead on the third day - just as prophecy said that He would. Now it is up to me to see that forgiveness of sins is preached throughout all nations. Bend, OR is part of all nations, and it is my responsibility to minister here, where God has placed me. I love mission trips to foreign countries, but the long term is that I am right here, and it is my responsibility to make Jesus known in this town.

Prayer:

Thank You, Jesus, so much for what You have done for me. You willingly gave Your life so that You could spend eternity with me. Please give me boldness and wisdom to reach into my world as well as nations across the globe for You. Give me a heart of a rescuer that sees people running as fast as they can into evil. I want to be a lifeline to the lost and a buoy to the broken people of this world. Help me to love people as You love people. Amen
