Scripture:

Luke 9:16-17 16 Taking the five loaves and the two fish and looking up to heaven, he gave thanks and broke them. Then he gave them to the disciples to set before the people. 17 They all ate and were satisfied, and the disciples picked up twelve basketfuls of broken pieces that were left over.

Observation:

Luke tells us that Jesus and the apostles were near the town of Bethsaida where Jesus took five loaves of bread and two fish and fed 5000 listeners!

Application:

Another very clear miracle by Jesus. So many times Jesus performed miracles in His ministry and teachings. He healed blindness and leprosy, raised the dead, walked on water, turned water into wine…
We see and hear miracles in today’s world, although perhaps not to the same degree of astonishment or magnitude. We don’t understand what we see or read sometimes. How does David Copperfield have a train just vanish from under a veil - in front of our eyes!? We are astonished, but know an illusion has taken place. I would guess many of us are skeptical of some modern-day miracles because of illusionists. I like to see illusionists' performances but I would like to witness a significant miracle. Just a “want” – not mandatory at all.

Prayer:

Jesus, You are a strong King and miracle-worker. Though I have not seen a true miracle, I believe in You and Your miracles. I do not have to witness to believe. You are my Savior. Thank You for Your life and Your sacrifice. Bless our military for their sacrifices. Amen.

  1. Ray, you made me laugh--I love your sincerity at "wanting" to see a miracle, but that it's not "mandatory." You have a great heart; it's clear that you love the Lord. Thanks for the blog!
