Scripture:
Genesis 8:21 The LORD smelled the pleasing aroma and said in his heart: "Never again will I curse the ground because of man, even though every inclination of his heart is evil from childhood. And never again will I destroy all living creatures, as I have done."
Observation:
This is directly after the flood, when Noah and his family have come out of the ark and sacrificed some animals to God to say "Thank you." He pretty much says here that man is evil.
Application:
I actually love verses like this because they remind me of who I am and what God has done. I think it's hard for most people to admit that they're wrong, that they're basically sinners and need to repent. I need to be reminded that I am absolutely NOTHING without Him--I am a sinner in need of a Savior. Thank God He sent Jesus for me, that He can redeem my evil nature and make we pure and holy before Him.
Prayer:
God, please help me stay humble when You convict me of something I'm doing wrong. Help me not to get prideful and stubborn; I do want to be quick to repent and turn from doing evil things, and help me not to listen to the enemy when he tells me that they're small things and I don't have to take time to pray about them. I do want to be holy before You, to take full advantage of what Your Son has done for me. I need You, Father. Show me Your ways. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Sheila,
ReplyDeleteI love these verses to. It is very humbling to know we are not worthy. Thankfully God is a loving forgiving God.
