Scripture:
Luke 14:21 "The servant came back and reported this to his master. Then the owner of the house became angry and ordered his servant, 'Go out quickly into the streets and alleys of the town and bring in the poor, the crippled, the blind and the lame.'"
Observation:
When I first read this whole parable from v15-23, I had no idea what Jesus was trying to say. So I read a commentary on it, and it is starting to make sense to me, although there are still some things I don’t understand. What I do see now is this is where Jesus tells us that He made a way for me, a Gentile! He was talking about God’s anger at the Israelites for making excuses for not coming to and following Him, so He made a way thru Jesus for us to come to Him. He also said the banquet room was not full and there is room for more.
Application:
Through Jesus, I have access to God, and that is the most awesome part of this for me, but not the full intention for Jesus. He said to go “quickly”… He wants to fill the Banquet Room, and He wants us to do that, also… go quickly, and gather from the neighborhoods and city we live in.
Prayer:
Lord, thank You for new revelation and conviction in my heart to what You want me to do. Please help me to go, and go quickly. Amen
Susie, loved the blog! Go "quickly." I don't think I've ever really looked at that part before! Argh. Sometimes I get so frustrated with myself! When will I learn to slow down and read every word carefully?? ha.
