Scripture:

Joshua 9:14,15 14 The Israelites sampled their provisions but did not inquire of the LORD. 15 Then Joshua made a treaty of peace with them to let them live, and the leaders of the assembly ratified it by oath.

Observation:

Joshua and the Israelite leaders made a decision going against God's original command because they trusted their own understanding. The Gibeonites had tricked the Israelites into believing that they did not live in Israel's promised land.

Application:

Always consult God! When I think of how to apply this to my life, it is very simply "always ask God." I cannot trust myself to make the right choices. When I think of God as my Father and think of my love for my own kids, I cannot help but believe that He is interested in every facet of my life and cares about each decision that I make.

Prayer:

Father, thank You so much for caring about everything that goes on in my life. It is so humbling to think that the Creator of the universe has ordered my steps every day. Please remind me that You desire to be at the center of every decision I make - no matter how simple it may seem to me. I am realizing that the best way to grow closer to You is to make those decisions that will strengthen our relationship and more fully submit my will to Your own. Help me to live in such a way that I will constantly be moving closer to You. Amen

  1. This is right on Clint. Thanks for the awesome blog. I really do believe this is so important in all areas. Its awesome to have that "consultant" to go to even...we dont have to make the decisions on our own! What a weight lifted....
