Scripture:

Mark 1:34 and Jesus healed many who had various diseases. He also drove out many demons, but he would not let the demons speak because they knew who he was.

Observation:

Jesus was doing what He does best, taking care of and loving people! He was healing those that needed to be healed and driving out demons in people. He was also keeping the demons quiet about who He was.

Application:

Jesus had a purpose in keeping the demons quiet. Question to myself - What good did it do? Other than this showing His authority over the demons, it kept people from taking the demons' words as truth. Also, if He allowed the demons to speak, then Satan could accomplish his mission of having people use Jesus as a "quick fix" instead of getting to know Him and of his compassion, love and mercy for them. Jesus desires so much more of me than just a "quick" meeting for help.

Prayer:

Jesus, I love You. I live for You and want to do more for You. Use me, Lord, to spread the good news of You. As You have silenced the demons against speaking about You, I take full privilege of spreading the great and amazing things You do. In the words I speak, I pray that others see who You really are and desire a true relationship with You, that the "something missing" in their lives becomes revealed to them: that it's You they are missing. The depth of Your love, the excitement and hope about life and living it to the fullest, the joy You bring, the weight of burdens lifted, the honesty and pure, unconditional love...reveal all of this, God. I'm so thankful that my heart knows of all these things and it's truth in my life. Amen
