Scripture:
Psalm 19:1 “The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of His hands.”
Observation:
God is always speaking! His creation "declares" His glory. The skies "proclaim" the work of His Hands. Since moving to Bend I have been stricken with it's natural beauty. The mountains, rivers, and lakes are like stuff you see in a calender! I behold God's creation and wonder, "How can anyone be an atheist?" "How can anyone doubt that there is a God?" Those who doubt God's existence cannot say that He has hidden Himself from them, that's for sure! God is always speaking, but there are many who CHOOSE to ignore Him. They CHOOSE to see God's awesome creation and tell themselves, "This is all an accident!" Wow how naive is that? Atheists are not the only ones who turn a deaf ear to God's voice. Many Christians CHOOSE to ignore the "still small voice" of God in their everyday life, and when we get to the bottom of wherever CHOOSING to ignore God's voice leads us, we find ourselves on our knees asking God to speak to us and save us, not realizing that He has been speaking to us the whole time. All we need to do is just LISTEN!
Application:
I need to realize that God is speaking to me everyday. He has a fresh word, specifically for whatever I am going through. My responsibility is to LISTEN to Him and remove anything from my life that is causing me not to hear Him. LISTENING to God is a discipline, and requires me to work my spiritual muscles, through prayer, reading His word, fasting, ministering to the needs of others, etc. Finally, I need to humble myself and recognize that I am nothing without Him!
Prayer:
Lord, please give me ears to hear what You are saying to me today! Forgive me for anything that I have allowed to come between me and You, causing me not to hear Your voice. I need a fresh word from You today. Help me to respond to Your word like Your servant Samuel when he said, "Speak Lord, Your servant hears You."
LOVE your blog today! Thanks for the insight and encouragement, too!
