Scripture:
Acts 17:16 Now while Paul was waiting for them at Athens, his spirit was provoked within him as he saw that the city was full of idols.
Observation:
Athens was a great and loved city of that day, filled with artistic beauty and great temples. Instead of Paul admiring all of this, He was provoked because it represented a society of people that were lost and worshiped many gods. Paul was not a man of “culture,” he was a man of “God’s kingdom.” So his response in v. 17 was to go through out the city reasoning with anyone who would listen.
Application:
I don’t want to be a woman of culture. I want to be like Paul, of one mind and purpose. I don’t want to try to fit into this culture by the way I look, act, and think. I want my life to bring glory to Jesus!
Prayer:
Jesus, keep filling me up with Your spirit and keep my heart fixed on You and free from this world. I want my life to be only for You!
