Scripture:
Psalm 90:12 Teach us the number of our days aright, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.
Observation:
Each of us has a finite period of time here on earth. Some of us came to know the Lord at an early age, and others at a later time of our lives. Either way, our days days are numbered and the time that we have to worship and serve the Lord is numbered as well.
Application:
Since our days are numbered, we should utilize the time we have wisely. Moses was asking God for wisdom so that the time on earth could be used in a wise manner. I think our time would be used in a much different fashion if each of us knew the exact day that we would die. But we don't know when that will be. We need to look into our hearts and find what we want to accomplish with our lives and the time we have. Do I want to serve myself or do I want to try to make a difference for the kingdom of the Lord? Do I take an opportunity to talk to someone about the Lord each time I can, or do I wait until next week? I want to utilize the opportunities I can when the situation arises. Sometimes I do well, but many times I fail. I don't know the number of our days, so I need to do the best job that I can in using each day as best as I can to the glory of God.
Prayer:
Lord, I, too, pray and ask for wisdom. Help me to see opportunities when You present them to me. Help me to speak and have the right words to say to people when You put them before me. I pray that You bless me with confidence and knowledge to spread Your word and further Your kingdom each day.
