Scripture:
Acts 19:5-6,18,20 5 On hearing this, they were baptized into the name of the Lord Jesus. 6 When Paul placed his hands on them, the Holy Spirit came on them, and they spoke in tongues and prophesied. 18 Many of those who believed now came and openly confessed their evil deeds. 20 In this way the word of the Lord spread widely and grew in power.
Observation:
There is a correlation between being baptized in the Holy Spirit, openly confessing our sins and the power of the Lord.
Application:
I have been reading a book called “They Speak with Other Tongues," and in the 19th chapter of Acts, it confirms the truth of tongues and the power of the Lord through the Holy Spirit.
The church, (aka a body of believers) can believe in Jesus and be saved, but if it wants to really have the power that God intended for it to have, for the winning of souls, and healing, then the above things are an integral part of that phenomena, and it will be supernaturally, and not by anything we do.
So what the Word is saying here is……Hear, lay on hands and ask for the baptism of the Holy Spirit, confess your sins openly, and accept this gift. Then watch how the Word of the Lord spreads widely and grows in power.
Prayer:
God, I thank You for the gift of tongues. Let me be like Paul who “uses them more than any of you.” Empower me through your Holy Spirit to do great and mighty things. To love the loveless, heal the sick, and bring hope to the hopeless. Anoint Fathers House to desire and do what You are calling us to do in a mighty way. Thank You, Jesus, Amen.
Love your prayer today! We say, "Yes, Lord!"
