Scripture:

Deuteronomy 4:2 Do not add to what I command you and do subtract from it, but keep the commands of the Lord your God that I give you.

Observation:

Simply put, don't do anything more or less, just do what God is commanding you to do. Don't add to the law, change it, make it into something that fits your lifestyle, or take away from it. Just leave it how it was when God gave it to us and follow it.

Application:

This is something that I have thought, until now, was only for the people in the Old Testament. I take the commands for what they are and try to obey them in my everyday life. I haven't ever tried to add to it or take away from it. But as I read this, it meant more to me than just that. God was telling me to obey His every word, the written Word, and the words that He whispers to me personally when I seek Him. Obey it all. Every command I get from Him, obey it. So simple.

Prayer:

Father God, I love the way You love me. I love that You have a set way for me to live and it is under Your protection and guidance. I want to walk in that everyday of my life. Help me focus on You and the things of You. Help my ears to be trained to hear Your voice and my mind made up to follow Your commands. I am nothing without You. Thank You, Lord. Amen.
