Scripture:

Joshua 1: 7,8 Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the law my servant Moses gave you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, that you may be successful wherever you go. 8 Do not let this Book of the Law depart from your mouth; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.

Observation:

God was directing Joshua to lead the Israelites into the Promised Land, instructing him on how to lead the people and keep God's laws so they would not fall away from Him, and could have what God had promised.

Application:

God's way for us to live our lives is so much simpler than we sometimes make it out to be. We fall to the pressures of the culture around us, when if we just kept it simple as God commanded, we could enjoy the gifts or blessings He has promised. To study His word can keep us in that straight path and our eyes on Him. I was recently reminded that the 10% God asks of us can be as simple as 144 minutes a day!

Prayer:

Father, give me strength to keep my focus on You, Lord. Take away the things I let get in the way and distract me from spending my time with You. In Jesus' name, Amen.
