Scripture:

1 Samuel 12:14 If you fear the LORD and serve and obey him and do not rebel against his commands, and if both you and the king who reigns over you follow the LORD your God--good!

Observation:

This verse ends with the word "good." Don’t we all want to do good for the Lord? Don’t we want God to say to us one day, “Well done, My good and faithful servant”? We may not have a king to serve in our country, but we do have elected officials who lead our government. I wonder how our country would be today if those officials wanted to do good for God in every decision they chose.

Application:

How do we do good for God? The answer is to serve and obey His commands. Let us pray for the officials of our country that their focus and desire will be to serve God first and lead us second.

Prayer:

Lord, we only want to serve You and to be obedient to You, with all that we do in our lives. Please help lead us and our officials to be good in Your eyes. Amen
