Scripture:
2 Corinthinans 6:16 What agreement is there between the temple of God and idols? For we are the temple of the living God. As God has said:
“I will live with them
and walk among them,
and I will be their God,
and they will be my people.”
Observation:
We are God's temple..His dwelling place. There is no room for anything that takes away from what He created us to do.
Application:
Idols aren't just little statues. Idols can be money, TV, food, shopping, computer..etc. An idol is anything that we put before God, or try to fill our void. Our bodies are living temples, created to worship and serve Him...and I'm pretty sure He didn't make extra cabinet space for our idols.
This is something that I constantly have to check my temple for...idols. For me..sometimes it's just so much easier to go for the "quick fix"..but in the end...it makes me feel 10x worse. It's so much easier to get it right the first time by getting on my knees. He is faithful with His promises...I just have to be faithful with what He has given me.
Prayer:
Lord, please help me to continue to give over my idols to you...those little things that I think aren't taking up much space in your temple...soften my heart to recognize when I need to do some "temple cleaning". Thank you for your grace and mercy everyday...Amen.
