Scripture:
Psalm 71:14 - But as for me, I will always have hope; I will praise you more and more.
Observation:
This is such an awesome passage to read after reading the 2 Samuel passage. People plotting against David and being "evil" and here David is writing to the Lord that he will always have hope and praise Him more and more. I know this may not have been going on at the same time, but that was just David. He was praising God and singing his heart out to Him continually. I love it!
Application:
I want more of this, period! I want to live with continual hope and praise coming from my heart. I want my children to grow up knowing that we always turn to God, that we put our hope in Him and Him alone, and when things get bad, that is when we praise Him more and more. We don't cower in fear or get oppressed by the evil around us. We should be described as David was in 2 Samuel 17:8 ...as fierce as a wild bear robbed of her cubs. How awesome! And I think in my home it will start with..."But as for me, I will always have hope; I will praise you more and more."
Prayer:
Lord, You know my heart. Forgive me for the worry that overcomes me sometimes and for the fear I still hold on to. Let my hope be in You and only You, and as I praise You more and more, help me learn how to be a fierce spiritual warrior for You. I love You, Lord. Amen.
