Scripture:

Ecclesiastes 12:8 - "Meaningless! Meaningless!" says the Teacher. "Everything is Meaningless!"

Observation:

The first time I read this, I thought it sounded pretty strong. Wow, that's in the Bible, really? Everything is meaningless?? But as I thought about it more and read it again, I realized it's so true. Everything is meaningless. Without Christ in my life everything would be meaningless. That is what it's saying in verse 7, "as the dust returns to the ground and the spirit returns to God who gave it"....that is us living without God. When that happens, everything becomes meaningless.

Application:

I have learned through a few trials in my life that it's far better to have God with me through them than try to muster up the strength to do them on my own. The times I have tried to take something on myself, it ends up feeling hopeless and meaningless. Anything that has not been based on The Rock falls away because it has no real meaning in my life. With God, I have a plan to live, a purpose to fulfill, and a promise to look forward to. Everything is meaningless without the Creator.

Prayer:

Father, thank You for making this part of Your Word. I have so much to learn about You and I long to know more. Thank You for bringing me through and redeeming my life like I could never have planned myself. Let those that are living a meaningless life without You see You for all that You are and all that You see them to be. You make life meaningful, and I know You long for everyone to come to You and enjoy Your abundant love. I love You, Lord, and I pray this in Your Name, Amen.
