Scripture:
Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 1 "There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens: 2 a time to be born and a time to die, a time to plant and a time to uproot, 3 a time to kill and a time to heal, a time to tear down and a time to build, 4 a time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance, 5 a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them, a time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing, 6 a time to search and a time to give up, a time to keep and a time to throw away, 7 a time to tear and a time to mend, a time to be silent and a time to speak,8 a time to love and a time to hate, a time for war and a time for peace."
Observation:
There is a time and season for everything. God's plan for our lives includes ups and downs, good time and bad times, times of plenty as well as times of lack. This scripture means a lot to me. I look at the season I'm in my life right now, and I can see God's plan. I was recently unemployed for an extended period of time. During this period, there was a lot of financial lack to say the least. I was frustrated and felt defeated so many times, but God had a plan! During this time of lack financially, God was teaching me all along the way. I believe He needed to get my attention, and I needed to place my trust in Him in a new way, that maybe I would not have if I hadn't been stripped of all the other distractions that times of plenty can offer.
Application:
No matter what season we are in life, it is important for us not to waste the opportunity to learn the lesson God might have for us. Whether it's a season of plenty or a season of lack, good times or bad times, ups or downs, God has our best interest at heart, and if we draw near to Him, we can go through anything with joy unspeakable and thus encourage others to draw near to God as well!
Prayer:
Lord, help me to embrace every season in my life as an opportunity to draw closer to You. Help me not to forget the lessons that You are trying to teach me. Give me Your joy and grace to face life's circumstances in such a way that I would encourage others to put their hope and trust in You. Amen.
