Scripture:

Hebrews 6:18 God did this so that, by two unchangeable things in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have fled to take hold of the hope offered to us may be greatly encouraged.

Observation:

A few verses back it talks about Abraham taking an oath on himself because at the time there was no one greater, but it goes on to say that each person swears by someone greater than themselves because of what they have been through with Jesus. In other words, they are a testament of what God can do in people's lives. This scripture goes on to say that "by two unchangeable things" (God's nature and His promise) it is impossible for Him to lie or change His mind, so we can hold tight to His promises.

Application:

Thinking about the full meaning of this gives me goose bumps, makes me cry, and humbles me all at the same time. Just by God's very nature we can trust that whatever He has promised will come true. Our hope is secure and immovable in Him. It is so very easy for me to doubt the future, or His plan for it. Yet here He reminds me again, "I have promised you, therefore it IS and it will be."

Prayer:

Thank You, dear friend, for reminding once again of your Father's love and patience in my life. Thank You God for the promises that You have shared with me and for not changing Your mind about those, even though I don't deserve any of it. I am Your servant and want to be at the ready whenever You want to send me out. I love You and thank You for loving me much more than I can ever know. Amen.
