Scripture:
Hebrews 4:9-10 There remains, then, a Sabbath-rest for the people of God; 10 for anyone who enters God’s rest also rests from their works, just as God did from his.
Observation:
God's rest is not a physical one (although it may include physical rest) but a spiritual one.
Application:
Spiritual rest comes when I stop fighting God and relinquish control to the Holy Spirit to change me. In this way, I can daily enter the Sabbath by recognizing God as Lord of my life. In practice I do not accomplish this. I wish that I did. The truth is that I struggle with the Lord and resist change on a daily basis. This makes my responsibility to the Sabbath even greater. Can I not give one day to the Lord to work in my life?
Prayer:
Father, help me to submit to Your guiding, and enter Your rest that refreshes my soul.
