Scripture:
Hebrews 2:14-15 "Since the children have flesh and blood, he too shared in their humanity so that by his death he might break the power of him who holds the power of death—that is, the devil and free those who all their lives were held in slavery by their fear of death."
Observation:
Jesus shared in our humanity, suffered, and died. By doing this, He broke the power of the devil over my life. The way I like to look at this scripture is by imagining the devil holding me hostage with a gun and Jesus taking his gun and removing the bullets. The devil has been holding humanity hostage since Adam and Eve, and now we are all free to go because the devil doesn't have any bullets in his gun anymore.
Application:
Just like with many things in my relationship with Christ, my responsibility is to receive what has already been freely given. Jesus died for me, and it is my responsibility to receive the victory available for me through His precious blood and walk away from the devil's influence over my life, knowing that he (the devil) has absolutely NO POWER!
Prayer:
Thank You, Lord, for the victory available to me through Your blood. Help me to walk away from any influence that the devil has in my life. In Jesus' name, Amen.
