Scripture:
Hebrews 12:12-13 Therefore lift your drooping hands and strengthen your weak knees, and make straight paths for your feet, so that what is lame may not be put out of joint but rather be healed.
Observation:
Hebrews 12 is such an encouraging chapter. It feels like the author is trying to shout out to us that we have no reason to be discouraged and to not share in God’s glory in the end (12:1-2). I can look to the many who have gone before me and have proved that God’s discipline IS perfect and will produce the peaceful fruit of righteousness (12:11) in me. I would rather be a daughter loved by my Father, sharing in His holiness, than an illegitimate child without an inheritance.
Application:
I can grow weary in fighting the same issues in my life over and over again, things that cause me to feel lame (disabled) and not the woman I know God has made me to be. But I WILL strengthen myself in the Lord and put my trust in Him. I will not allow this lameness to put me out of joint, but WILL be healed. And I WILL allow God’s discipline to produce in me a peaceful fruit of righteousness.
Prayer:
Father, I am so thankful that I am Your daughter and get to share in Your holiness. Give me lots of grace as I go through the tests and trails of this life, and produce in me nothing less than Your beauty. Help me to SEE clearly in this life and not become discouraged. Amen.
